{"id":28,"date":"2011-02-08T14:42:48","date_gmt":"2011-02-08T19:42:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lostmyhearing.com2011\/02\/08\/eyes-and-torches-oh-my\/"},"modified":"2024-02-17T14:23:59","modified_gmt":"2024-02-17T18:23:59","slug":"eyes-and-torches-oh-my","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lostmyhearing.com\/?p=28","title":{"rendered":"Eyes and Torches Oh My"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One down, one to go.\u00a0 Cataract surgery, I mean.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve had the first surgery and so far, so good!\u00a0 The surgery went well but I did have a few strange things happen.\u00a0 First, I ate two Digestive cookies &#8211; I&#8217;ve never done that before!\u00a0 I thought they were for hospitals and babies.\u00a0 Sure enough, the nurse in the hospital gave it to me\u00a0after the surgery and darned if it wasn&#8217;t good.\u00a0 (Or maybe it was the sedative, who knows?)<\/p>\n<p>Second, I had\u00a0a lot of flickering lights\u00a0for the first five or\u00a0so days.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Aside from scaring me (then the surgeon said it was not common, but did happen sometimes)\u00a0it was very annoying.\u00a0 It also brought on my Menieres symptoms from all the flickering movement.\u00a0 I found that if I looked straight ahead while talking to people or watched TV (we won&#8217;t discuss programming content right now.\u00a0 I&#8217;m still too frightened by it!) it didn&#8217;t bother me. But reading and certain lighting did.\u00a0 That&#8217;s 90% gone now and he thinks it&#8217;ll go away completely\u00a0when the second eye is done and they&#8217;re balanced.\u00a0 Right now I&#8217;m still seeing through one cataract eye.<\/p>\n<p>Some of you know how scared I was before the surgery.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve had a long time fear of things coming at my eyes.\u00a0 I&#8217;m happy to say I wasn&#8217;t aware of it happening and I feel much better about getting the second one done this Friday.\u00a0 It will take a while after both are done to see how my vision ends up, but I&#8217;m typing this very comfortably without pressing my nose to the screen.\u00a0 That&#8217;s a good thing.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll keep you posted.
