I met new people yesterday and made new friends. One of them noticed I had trouble hearing, so of course I told her what happened to me.  She totally took it in stride and said, “ahh so you read lips.”

Another friend didn’t quite hear the conversation so he looked over and asked what we were saying.

“Oh,” I said, “I was just telling Jill I’m deaf.”

Without blinking an eye or losing his smile, Peter said, “What?  I couldn’t hear you.”  Though I pretend bopped him, we were both laughing and they made my day. So thanks Peter and Jill, for showing that it’s no big deal. I knew it, but it’s nice to have friends remind me.
